Many people have been asking what Adventure Outings has planned for the Summer so we’ll use this post to explain.
First things first, our office and Equipment Rental Center will be open this Summer. The office will be open M-TH 11am-3pm and the Equipment Rental Center will be open M, T, TH 3-6pm. Please stop by either location to say hello, come by the “E.R.” to rent some gear for your Summer adventures and swing by the office to get our new Fall 2013 calendar and register for some trips.
Speaking of trips, we’ll be running several custom trips this Summer. In fact, we have already ran one for the Sacramento River Preservation Trust. The image above was taken on full moon float we led for the Trust on the Sacramento River. We’re also excited to have custom trips planned with the Summer Orientation staff, A.L.C.I. and C.C.L.C. We also have a Yosemite Backpacking trip that is full and waitlisted scheduled for mid-August. Of course, our Fall trips are already seeing registrations so don’t hesitate to get signed up for those.
We’ve had many folks inquire about the Chico Bound program, AO’s wilderness orientation for first-year Chico State students. This program is on hiatus for the Summer but we have every intention of bringing it back, hopefully better than ever. We will use this Summer to restructure this program to best meet the needs of today’s incoming students. We welcome any suggestions in this arena and we apologize for any student’s who aren’t able to attend this Summer.
This summer we will tackle many projects that we hope will help us serve the Chico State and greater Chico communities even better. These range from deep cleaning our vans to digitizing our gear inventory to reviewing and revising our policies and procedures.
That’s what we’re doing this Summer, what about you? Hopefully something filled with adventure and the beauty of nature!
